In this article, I'll show you the formula to improve any advert.
It doesn't require endless hours of work or thousands of dollars thrown away. And it doesn't require buzzwords or complicated marketing terms.
After reading this, you'll understand why most adverts don't work and what you can do about it.
It all starts with making sure... not being boring.
Let me explain:
The Reason Why Your Ads Aren't Working
I once created an ad for a client. It took hours of work until we thought it was perfect.
After a while, I wanted to check the results. However, there were no interactions, no calls and no potential customers. The only increase was the number of views.
I couldn't understand what was going wrong. So I did some research to try again.
Some sources told me to increase the ad budget.
While others blamed the tough market.
With a deadline set and being late already, I decided to just increase the ad budget. But when I checked the results again, I only lost more money.
I felt like this was all a huge scam.
Improving Your Ads
When I spend money on something, I first need a reason to do so. I expect you to do the same. Otherwise we wouldn't necessarily buy things.
When we spend money on advertising, it gives people a reason to get something.
So, if we don't see results, there must be something wrong with the advert.
But if you try to put this idea into marketing as a test. Will people bury you with different opinions:
‘We'll have to wait, maybe it's just been a bad week.
‘We should increase the budget, others are doing the same thing.’
‘Let's make a big list of all the things we're doing and show people.
Those are nice words. But waiting doesn't get things done. Spending more doesn't solve the problem. And showing everything makes it really boring.
The solution I've found is:
‘We need to think about what our customers want.’
And I wanted to give customers exactly that.
How I Started Seeing Results With Ads...
And How You Can Do The Same
I came across a quote from David Ogilvy that stayed in my head for days:
‘The headline can make or break the ad’
I asked myself, ‘Would I read adverts if the headline was boring?’
And the answer is definitely no. We see dozens of adverts every day, but we only remember the ones that persuade us in some way.
We need to grab people's attention with a good headline that shows them: ‘This is for me. This scratches my itch. ‘This person understands what I'm struggling with.’
And to do that, we need some information first...
...What problems are we solving for them? - Write down their needs.
Who are my ideal customers, what is their age, gender, relationship? - Set a target group.
What makes us special? - Building something, like an offer.
All to create the perfect headline.
Now a question for you: How did I get your attention?
The answer, by doing just that. No boring details, no mess, just interesting headlines with a solution to your problem.
